Abstract

Chitin and chitosan are very versatile and promising biomaterials. A deacetylated chitin derivative, chitosan, is a more useful and interesting bioactive polymer. Despite its biodegradability, it offers many opportunities for chemical modification, creating a wide variety of useful derivatives that are commercially available or available through graft reactions and ionic interactions. have reactive amino acid groups. This study reviews the state-of-the-art research on chitin and chitosan for various industrial and biomedical applications.
