Abstract

Since its introduction 25 years ago, the Invisalign® system has undergone multiple digital and biomechanical evolutions and its effectiveness is often compared to traditional systems without considering the many differences which characterize them. The main aim of this systematic review is to look at the literature dealing with studies on teeth movements using the Invisalign® system and the management of these movements through digital planning and artificial intelligence. The “Invisalign” system allows us to perform an aesthetic orthodontic treatment, since the devices are almost imperceptible. This system can be useful in certain malocclusion cases, especially mild to moderate crowding, extrusions cases, small midline deviations and tooth inclinations, avoiding traditional fixed devices. However, to achieve the aims of the treatment plan, it may be necessary to use an intermediate correction, using refinement aligners or even braces before finalization. This article describes the advantages and limitations of this system and its application in a clinical Class I malocclusion case that had a slight arch dental-disharmony (DDM) and an increased overjet. It succeeded to an aesthetic and functional occlusion, the correction of the average line and crowding, in a patient which his dento-facial appearance was important given his public life.
