Abstract

A review of vitamin-D immunomodulation studies is given in this review. The number of unwell children in the world today is steadily rising, with acute respiratory viral infections at the top of the list. Vitamin D exhibits antimicrobial efficacy against acute respiratory pathogens. Vitamin D is essential both in the management and avoidance of respiratory virus infections to reduce epidemiological morbidity. Vitamin D in the complex management of acute viral respiratory illnesses can ensure a relatively mild course and a decrease in the prevalence of children with recurring sickness and acute respiratory infections.
