Changing Ways of Investment (A Study of the Shift from Physical to Digital Assets)

The Indian investment landscape has undergone a tectonic shift from 2013 to 2023. Historically, Indian households favored physical assets—gold and real estate—due to their tangibility and cultural significance. However, the emergence of the "India Stack," affordable high-speed internet, and the rise of disruptive FinTech platforms have democratized financial markets. This paper examines the transition toward digital assets, including Equities, Mutual Funds, and Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs), analyzing data up to 2023 to highlight how technology has redefined wealth creation for the Indian middle class.
