Desert ecosystems represent one of the harshest environments on Earth, marked by minimal precipitation, extreme temperatures, intense solar radiation, and nutrient-poor soils. In spite of these conditions, desert plants (Plantae desertorum) have evolved a wide range of adaptations to survive and flourish. This paper provides an in-depth exploration of the morphological, physiological, reproductive, and biochemical adaptations of desert flora across different biogeographical regions. It also reviews the taxonomic diversity of desert plant species and their ecological significance, emphasizing their roles in climate resilience, soil conservation, and human livelihoods. The conservation challenges facing desert flora and their potential for use in agriculture, medicine, and ecological restoration are also discussed.
