Abstract

mental health issues in oncological diseases are still relevant today. Researchers are identifying a wide range of psychiatric disorders, although previously only depression was considered a traditional comorbidity. In oncological practice, it is faced with various mental disorders, the most common of which are depression and anxiety-disorders of the phobic spectrum. The oncological process, combined with treatment difficulties, causes side effects such as pain syndrome, fear of relapse, which, of course, reduces the quality of life of patients. Increased anxiety is associated with the fear that relapse occurs in the rest of the breast, as we learned from conversations with patients. The volume of surgical intervention significantly affects the psychological state of women diagnosed with BC, which is confirmed by a decrease in quality of life indicators and an increase in anxiety and depression even before surgery.
