Abstract

The article contains brief information about ordinary and partial differential equations, their history and practical applications. Methods of solving boundary value problems for mixed-type equations are analyzed and the general idea is explained. As an example, the canonical representation of the generalized Tricomi equation, the uniqueness and existence of the solution to the Tricomi problem are described. A number of articles published in this direction have been analyzed.
