Abstract

The development of the sphere of physical culture and sports in a megalopolis differs significantly from the functioning of this sphere in other types of settlements. Based on the study of research literature, Russian and foreign experience in this work, the key features of the functioning of the sports and physical education industry were highlighted. These include: the possibility of holding major sporting events and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects, the expediency of using the comparative advantages of the metropolis and an integrated approach in the implementation of state policy in this area of public relations, as well as the need to integrate sports facilities and spaces into the urban environment.
