Abstract

The role of repertoire in developing vocal-choir skills is crucial, as the selection and approach to choir pieces directly influence the formation of vocal techniques and overall choral performance. The appropriate choice of repertoire based on the choir's skill level helps in progressing from simpler to more complex pieces, facilitating the development of correct breathing, vocal articulation, and harmonization. Repertoire is not only a tool for technical development but also enhances the expressive and artistic qualities of the choir. The conductor's guidance in rehearsing different vocal techniques, such as proper breathing methods, diction, and vocal attack, is essential for achieving harmony, clear enunciation, and a cohesive sound. This study emphasizes how the right repertoire can shape and refine vocal-choral skills, ensuring a choir's success in both technical proficiency and artistic expression.
